WHAT IS RADIOFREQUENCY MICRONEEDLING?

Radiofrequency (RF) Microneedling is a minimally invasive treatment which uses specialised microneedles to direct targeted radiofrequency energy into the skin to treat a wide range of skin concerns such as lines/wrinkles, skin laxity, scarring, open pores, redness, rosacea, pigmentation, stretch marks and thread veins.

At Halo Aesthetics® we use Sylfirm X as we believe this technology offers a superior level of safety, results, comfort and recovery. Sylfirm X is the very latest FDA approved technology and is one of the most advanced RF Microneedling devices in the world. Sylfirm X operates a precise robotic system to ensure that the microneedles reach the exact depth in the skin for optimum results and minimal discomfort. This triggers a process which stimulates the production of new collagen and elastin, firming and tightening the skin, reducing enlarged pores and smoothing scarring and uneven skin texture. In addition Sylfirm X has a dual pulse mode which can target and treat the abnormal blood vessels that cause redness, rosacea and thread veins, and it is also effective in the treatment of skin discolourations such as melasma, hyperpigmentation and sun spots.

Sylfirm X can be used on the face and body, and can even be used on the thinnest skin such as that around the eyes, including the upper eyelids.

IS SYLFIRM X THE SAME AS MORPHEUS 8?

Sylfirm X and Morpheus 8 are both Radiofrequency Microneedling devices but there are a few important differences. When researching which devices we want to use in clinic we look at safety, efficacy, comfort and downtime. We believe that Sylfirm X comes out ahead on all of these which is why we chose it for our patients. Sylfirm X has a robotic action which is very precise which means we can really target the treatment where we want it. Additionally, the risk of overheating the skin is much reduced with Sylfirm X and it can be used around the delicate eye area and eyelid which can't be done with Morpheus 8.

Sylfirm X has a dual pulse mode unlike the single pulse Morpheus 8 so it can be used to treat more skin conditions. It can also be completely customised to each individual which makes it more effective in targeting specific concerns. We see incredible results with Sylfirm X and patients who have had this treatment have high levels of satisfaction.

Comfort is a major factor in choosing an aesthetic procedure - nobody wants to be in excruciating pain during a treatment. Whilst there is some discomfort with Sylfirm X it is much more comfortable than Morpheus 8 (our Lead Aesthetic Nurse personally tried both first hand so she knows!!!). We always use a numbing cream on your skin before RF Microneedling so discomfort is minimal and short lived. Downtime is also minimal with most people only experiencing some mild redness/tightness for around 12-24 hours.

Overall, we believe that Sylfirm X is better, more sophisticated technology. It’s safer, more effective, and less painful compared to Morpheus 8.

THE TREATMENT

Firstly, you will have a consultation to ensure that you are suitable for RF Microneedling treatment. Before the procedure the area being treated is cleansed and a local anaesthetic cream is applied to make the procedure as comfortable as possible. The Sylfirm X handpiece is then applied to the skin until the whole area has been treated.

During the treatment you may feel some slight discomfort and heat but the procedure is quick and discomfort is short-lived. Immediately after treatment your skin will be a little red and you many experience some mild swelling which will make your skin feel tight for a few days. You can resume your daily activities almost straight away.

Each treatment session delivers powerful results with minimal downtime. For best results we recommend a course of 3 treatments and a maintenance session once or twice a year.
